History
Ashtabhuja Temple sits on the northern-most hillock of the Vindhyachal pilgrimage circuit, forming the third point of the Vindhyachal Trikon Parikrama alongside Vindhyavasini and Kaali Khoh.
Religious Significance
The temple derives its name from the deity Ashtabhuja (Mahasaraswati), a title of Parvati, worshipped here for wisdom and knowledge alongside the shakti embodied at the nearby Vindhyavasini temple.
What's Special
From the temple atop the hillock, devotees get a panoramic view of the River Ganga and surrounding landscape. A ropeway makes the climb convenient, alongside a traditional flight of 222 steps.
How to Do Darshan
Large congregations gather here during the Navratras of Chaitra (April) and Ashwin (October). The ropeway is recommended for elderly devotees or those unable to climb the steps.
